  1. We want to use the built in news page and news link for news articles. It would be awesome if the BT news webpart would be able to handle this without any extra configuration. It requires a URL field to be filled out, but there is no URL field available to choose. It also doesnt work with news links(3rd party link) in the modal. It just breaks.

  2. The new update to the Document webpart (3.0.0.2) took away the ability to link out to its associated document library, and the 'Title Link' feature. Before, we would put the URL of the document library in the webpart title. This feature is no longer available. In the new version, the name of the document library seems clickable (and really should just open out to the associated library) but doesn't do anything. Please bring back Title Link feature, or create a way to immediately open the associated document library for the Document webpart.

  3. This is great, if we want to limit search results of documents based on a preset filter on a page. This is in addition to also giving users option to further filter search results, but still within a narrow scope.

The current version of Documents (v.3.0.0.6) available for SharePoint Online - Modern should addresses your request of having additional default filters added to the documents shown using Search.  Can you please confirm?

  4. SharePoint Modern has very few text formatting designs which can leave more advanced users frustrated. In Classic, SharePoint used to have the Scripting webpart which would allow for custom CSS, HTML, or JavaScript which would allow users to overcome some of the limitations. In GitHub a user, Jeremy Coleman, created the TrueScript editor webpart (https://github.com/jcoleman-pcprofessional/True-Script-Editor) for Modern SharePoint that wonderfully added back that functionality. However, the open-source project is no longer supported. It would be really helpful for BindTuning to create a commercial webpart similar to this as it seems that Microsoft is not going to reinstate the…

  5. We would like an Outlook style calendar web part with day, week, and month
views that aggregate calendars and filter by meta data. Organization
leaders need the ability to slice and dice their calendar data (including
hierarchical data) and I'm not seeing much that is available in the form of
    web parts that do this.

Starting March 2023, when the new BindTuning People web part version was launched for SharePoint Online Modern, the MS Teams icons started displaying when custom lists were defined as data source. Please update the web part to the latest available version to start enjoying these new features.

  8. It would be nice if you could add an phone extension search. but like the Bindtuning look and feel of their people web part.
So, as of this moment, the People web part can only search by:
    • Name
    • Organization
    • Department
    • Job title

The refactored People web part, launched in March 2023, allows admins to connect to Azure AD to source up to data data. Once connected to Azure AD, the web part can be configured so that end users can search it by using multiple fields from Azure AD user profile, including phone extensions. It is important, however, that data is populated in Azure AD.

  9. Add ability to show the phone # and email address in the People web part instead of having to click on the phone and email icons to display this information. It would just show the phone number to the right of the phone icon and to the right of the email icon. Not sure why it is even hidden until you click on the icon to display this information.

The refactored People web part, launched in March 2023, allows mapping information from multiple data sources to 5 new configurable layouts. You are now able to display both email and phone number within each persona card, without having to click on it.

If a BindTuning Theme is customized using custom fonts, these can be inherited by all BindTuning Web Parts and some out of the box web parts applied in Modern SharePoint Sites. To apply this configuration, open the BindTuning Settings Panel and under "General » Look and Feel" select "Heading Fonts » Theme and page content". This will allow header, footer and out of the box web parts (headings) to inherent the custom font. To have the BindTuning Web Parts inherit these, toggle on the option that says "Allow Web parts Inherit Theme Font".

  11. It would be great, if we could dial a phone number on mobile phones, when we use the People Web Part. If we click on a phone number to dial, we only get an error message. It would be verry usefull, if we could dial the number directly within Teams. The same way, as it is working on the desktop version.

    Best regards,
    Guido Peter

The refactored People web part, launched in March 2023, allows mapping business or mobile number to the "Quick Call" actions. Open the web part settings panel and under "Actions" toggle on "Quick Call". Then go to "Layouts", choose one of the available layouts and make sure to map your business or mobile number to the field "Quick call". Once that is done, clicking on the "phone" icon in mobile view will  open the dial in with the number populated, allowing the end user to initiate a phone call. Other available call to actions include "send email" and "send a teams message".

  12. It would be nice to add refinements to the people webpart, much like sharepoint search. So they could refine by department, office location, etc.

The refactored People web part, launched in March 2023, allows both admins and end users to refine a People Directory created with BindTuning People connected to Azure AD. Fields available for the admin to filter include "user enablement", "user type", "licensing", "active/deleted" and "creation type" together with "business phone", "country", "date created", "department", "employee id", "job title", "office location", "postal code", "state" among others.  Filters available for the end user include "city", "company name", "country", "department", "employee type", "job title", "office location" and "preferred language".

  13. The People webpart does not currently return individual words in a search, only full phrases. For example if I search "Manager Sydney" no results appear.
But if I search "Manager" OR "Sydney" it returns many results.

In a Global organisation, it is commonplace for staff to search for a role, then an office so we need the webpart to be able to search for individual words rather than the whole phrase.

    Can this be addressed?

The refactored People web part, launched in March 2023, includes 3 different search criteria:

    • match all = match this AND that (same field);
    • match any = match this OR that (same field);
    • cross fields = match this AND that across all user fields

To activate this functionality, open the web part settings panel and under "Search, Filter, Sort" toggle on "Search" and define which fields you want your end users to search for. A search bar will be added to the web part content area. On the right end of the search bar, you will see 3 icons, each representing one of the search patterns above.

  14. The Stocks ticker web part should have more exchanges and data sources that are free. We already pay for the web part and are also having to pay for the data source. The free version of all the exchanges does not cover enough requests for a medium to large company.

We cannot use this web part because of the limitation of exchanges and requests needed. For a financial institution this would be a huge win.

  16. It would be really nice if there is flexibility to change the existing Document web-part default document name and last modified date information into other custom columns value . My team and I are looking for an option to change the document name to Title column and Modified date into created date or other date related columns from the document library.

The option to change document webpart default document name and modified date information in to custom column values is now available. A new version of BindTuning Documents Web Part has been launched early this year to allow full layout configuration.

  17. It would be nice if the Calendar app could display events not coming from the Calendar app but from a list with a calendar view.

It is now possible to set Publishing Start and End Date for individual entries on the news list. Please update your BindTuning News to the latest available version and edit one individual item – at the bottom of the modal you will see a new section named “Publishing Settings” where you will be able to define live dates.

  19. The People WP is currently ordered by First Name and it would be nice, if there is a possibility to order/sort by other values of the user profile.
For example the HireDate or Last Nam or something else.

The refactored People web part, launched in March 2023, allows sorting by multiple new fields in Azure AD user profile, provided data sorce is set to Azure AD. Available fields include surname, city, company name, country, department, employee id, job title, office location or state. If connected to SharePoint Search, sorting is available by department, first name, full name, job title, last name and location. For filtering users as an admin, additional fields from SharePoint Search are available including user name, genre or fax. No further enhancements are planned for when sorce is set to "SharePoint Search".

  20. When working with many files/folders in heavy collaboration often solutions require the full functionality of SharePoint Document handling such as the options in the ribbon or ellipse, etc. and additional screen real-estate by directly viewing a SharePoint document library. For these scenarios there would be value in being able to open a folder or document set in a new tab from the documents app. I believe there would be value to have an option to open folders and document sets in a new tab in the documents app part.

The new Documents Web Part, launched in March 2023 for SharePoint Online Modern, allows Admins or Site Owners to configure how/where documents open upon click. Under "Actions", the dropdown "Open Document" includes the option to open in Modal, New Tab or Direct Download. Update your web part today to start experimenting with these new features.
